OK folks, it's time to put our heads in the Game! What game? Getting the clutter out of our lives!...
There are many things we do throughout the day that make us feel as if we have accomplished something or done something productive. However, being in business for yourself requires you to really take a look at those things that consume most of your time; you really need to prioritize. There are only so many hours in a day and as a business owner getting organized becomes a critical step in growing your business.
I found out that if I wanted to get my business up and running, I had to learn how to monetize my time - I couldn't waste my precious time worrying about the little details in my business. Like, filling up my schedule with seminars, or how many people I had to go out and befriend in order to grow my business - this was actually the most ineffective and time consuming effort I wasted time on. Since I strongly believe in the saying "there's got to be a better way" I refocused my attention on making the most of my time and effort. I wanted something efficient and effective. This brings me to the topic we're covering today, tasks.
Let's take some time to breakdown these two words:
1.Goals
2.Tasks
Goals are aims you want to reach. This is important for business because it allows you to put your focus in the right direction.
Tasks are specific things you should be doing on a daily basis. Your tasks should be in line with your goals - Tasks are things you do on a consistent basis to get to the bigger picture (goal). Notice how specific is highlighted, that's because tasks must be as detailed as possible - it can not be a general thing you'd like to do. Keep in mind: when creating tasks, you want to be making the most of your time, effort, and imagination. The goal of your task is to be making more money with less time....
Remember, tasks are to be done daily and consistently and they have to be specific in nature. Otherwise, it's just a desire or worse, something you'd like to do.
Good Task Ideas:
1. Today: find a niche to own or a specialized category of that niche
2. Today: Write specific and informative articles on the niche I own to
position myself as a leader and have interested parties drawn to me.
3. Today: Create a system to provide better customer service and response time.
4. Today: Contact 10 pre-qualified leads from my website.
Bad Task Ideas:
1. I'm going to check my emails more frequently and respond as promptly as possible.
2. I'm going to post a standard ad. (This is really bad!)
3. I'm going to put banner ads up everywhere! (Did you notice those don't work? I Know!! Me too!!)
Do you see the value of specific tasks? Writing a list of specific tasks should be something you do everyday upon waking and before sleeping. You have to constantly tweak and improve those tasks so they can get you results as soon as possible. Get your head in the Game!
